Pissouri is a beautiful village on the south coast of Cyprus and is only a brief 30 minutes drive from Paphos (Pafos) airport. Its calm and tranquil location is little known by the average tourist, and perfect for those looking to relax and take it easy away from the crowds. This attractive village has retained its distinctive, traditional Cypriot character and it is the ideal place to discover the real culture that this wonderful island has to offer.
Originally a fishing village, Pissouri is also famed for its grapes. Vines cover the valleys and sun-soaked slopes leading down to the sea; lizards bask undisturbed on the sun-bleached rocks and butterflies flit between the typically Mediterranean vegetation of herbs, lemon, almond and olive groves.
Pissouri has two distinct communities – the sweeping arc of Pissouri bay (also known as Cape Aspro with its secluded sand and shale beach; and Pissouri village, just a short 3Km drive away, with its winding cobbled streets and typical red-roofed, whitewashed houses nestled in the hillside. In Pissouri village there are several shops, and many restaurants, bars and tavernas serving food and drink of exceptional quality. There are also three banks in Pissouri's central village square.
Spend lazy, sunkissed days swimming in the clear, sparkling azure sea and sunbathing on Pissouri beach. Sip a cold, refreshing Keo and watch the sunset over the bay in a beach bar then head into the village to a taverna to sample the local speciality mezze or delicious Kleftiko. In the high season, take an evening stroll to soak in the buzzing atmosphere and chance upon the lively street entertainment in the main square. Pissouri also boasts an amphitheatre where you can really soak in the Cypriot culture while watching traditional dances and or a play.
There is a friendly community atmosphere in Pissouri and locals are very welcoming to tourists; but although you may arrive as a visitor to Pissouri, you will no doubt leave as friends.

Cyprus; a most beautiful island, has a fantastic year-round climate making it ideal for villa holidays; it stands at the eastern edge of Europe; where traditional life and modern living co-exist; and ancient cultures rests side by side with the excitement of today.

You will also find lots of very friendly tavernas and restaurants selling delicious local dishes, with seafood a specialty, some of the finest food in the Mediterranean. Cyprus is the perfect destination for a villa holiday, with the Paphos area being popular with visitors having traditional seaside villages such as Pissouri only a short distance along the coast and towns like Polis and the village of Latchi in the north of the island.
The region of Pissouri is divided into the village that is set high up on the hillside about 1,000ft above the sea, and the blue flag beach area. Callimore Villa is situated on the edge of the village on the old beach road. The village commands the most magnificent views over some 25 kilometres of Mediterranean coastline, which includes panoramic views of the coast, across vineyards, olive and carob trees. To the north one can see the beautiful Troodos Mountains. Pissouri is situated just off the main Paphos to Limassol road. Pissouri has a village square for pedestrians only (See pictures). There is a Greek Orthodox church, a good bakery, postal agency, banks and supermarkets plus several family-run tavernas and restaurants serving excellent fresh food at competitive prices. Pissouri village is a farming village, which means there is a fantastic selection of local produce, including grapes for which the region is famous. Live entertainment is often available to watch in the village amphitheatre and on Wednesdays in the main square of the village you will find great traditional entertainment in the 'Cyprus night', which sees lots of music and dancing. The pace of life is very laid back allowing a relaxed and stress free living. Where time is measured by means of shadows cast by the sun. Combine this with the simple pleasures of good food and beautiful views; it may well lull you into that perfect holiday mood.If you want to get up and explore there are many ancient ruins and historical sites across the island. Aphrodite is the mythical goddess of love and ancient ruins and monuments dedicated to her; abound in sunny Cyprus. The Tombs of the Kings in Paphos is an amazing subterranean world full of ancient tombs, with pillars and engravings. Agia Solomoni church has beautiful12th Century frescos that are well worth going to see.
For the more adventurous, diving schools will help you dive in some of the clearest waters in the Mediterranean. Golfers can enjoy one of four courses on the West of the island, the villa is close to the Aphrodite Hills Resort that is home to a magnificent 18-hole championship golf course,. Bikers can take a guided tour through the Forests near Paphos. To cycle in cooler conditions, enjoy the Troodos mountains at a leisurely pace. There are 57 kilometres of cycle tracks in the mountains. Midway between Pissouri and Limassol you could go rock climbing at Episkopi.
If you want to try something different, why not explore a stretch of the Paphos or Pissouri coastline in a kayak? If this sounds crazy, it isn't. Kayaking is easy to master and fun.
There are many activities in the local area from golf, skiing, scuba diving and water parks
Cyprus is blessed with summer weather from May until October and that means elevated temperatures, cloudless skies and cooling breezes from the sea. Callimore villa has a 4metre square gazebo next to the pool to provide shade during these hotter days. It's the ideal season for swimming, sunbathing and a whole range of water sports.
The evenings tend to get a little cooler toward the end of October in Cyprus but the days in mid-November can still feel like summer. The winter months are December to February which brings the probability of rain, but still an average of six hours of bright sunshine a day. It can also bring snow in the Troodos Mountains where skiing is an unexpected pleasure that can be enjoyed on the sunshine island. March brings spring and is a wonderful time to visit Cyprus, alive with fresh green meadows; wildflowers and almond trees in bloom coupled with pleasant daytime temperatures. The natural beauty of the Cypriot spring is incredible to see during the months of April to May, before the higher temperatures of the summer and the absence of rain end this season of colour.
The beach at Coral Bay is one of the best, but this means it can get very crowded in the summer
Wanting the bright lights of a big city, Limassol is a 30 minute drive away from Callimore villa, with its large shopping area, bars and clubs and it has a vibrant nightlife being the commercial centre of Cyprus. Limassol is a very good shopping centre, but that is not all. It sits on a large bay that has many beaches. It has a castle and a working harbour plus many other attractions
Paphos is more family friendly, set upon a large bay with a harbour it draws large tourist crowds in the summer months with its beaches, shops and restaurants. The atmosphere in Paphos is fun loving and friendly, with plenty of bars, pubs, discos, nightclubs. Kato Paphos is the old town by the harbour and has the famous Roman mosaics as well as the medieval castle and church of Ayia Kyriaki. On the outskirts of Paphos you can see many vineyards and banana tree plantations.
Polis is on the wide Chrysohou Bay that runs along the north-west of Cyprus, and is a must to visit. In the centre of the town you can enjoy very good food at reasonable prices. It has a number of nearby beaches that are quieter than beaches in the south of the island. A jewel in this area of the island is the Akamas National Park.
Latchi, is a picturesque harbour adjacent to Polis. In the past it served as a small port and fishing harbour. The harbour has been extended and now houses the old fishing harbour and a facility for modern leisure craft. Many of the old stone warehouses have been converted into restaurants, fish taverns where you can relax by the moored boats whilst eating and drinking. Short cruises are available during the summer months.
There are two water parks, the Fasouri Watermania (just west of Limassol) and the Aphrodite Water Park in Paphos.
A must for nature lovers, Cedar Valley in Tilliryan Troodos is aptly named. However, the cedars in this secluded valley are no ordinary trees, but the indigenous Cyprus cedar, Cedrus brevifolia, a close relative of the famous cedars of Lebanon. There are thousands of them in Cedar Valley. It's not the easiest of places to find, but for that reason you are almost guaranteed peace and quiet when you get there. It can be reached via a winding unpaved road from Pano Panagia on the Paphos side of the mountains.
Omodos is -perhaps- one of the few villages that has kept its unadulterated old beauty and its absolutely Cypriot character, built at the slope of the mountain, is one of the most picturesque villages of Cyprus.
Home handicraft flourishes in Omodos. The village's women, apart from the plentiful and hard work that they offer next to their husbands for the cultivation of the earth, are also occupied with handmade embroideries, making wonderful brocades, tablecloths, threaded quilts, and narrow-knit and Chantilly laces.
Troodos is an area of extreme natural beauty throughout the year. Whether escaping the summer heat, walking or cycling along scenic routes in spring or autumn or sipping a hot beverage after a demanding skiing descent in winter, Troodos is the place for all seasons.
The region offers an abundance of things to do and see. It is an area of fresh air, winding nature trails and scenic panoramas. Walking or cycling through forests on mountain trails, attending village festivals, experiencing the local traditional gastronomy, or discovering the cultural treasure of the UNESCO World Heritage churches are among the main pursuits. Birdwatchers, botanists, geologists, ramblers, bikers, photographers and nature lovers seeking a relaxing break away from the cosmopolitan coastal resorts will be delighted.
For those wanting eternal beauty, you can swim around Aphrodite's Rock, the birth place of Aphrodite, this myth cannot be guaranteed.

If your desire is to lounge by the pool you can bask in the sun on the patio or enjoy the shade from the gazebo.
